What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Career Telos collects, uses, discloses, safeguards, and retains personal information when you use the service. It is designed to reflect the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and related guidance from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Career Telos is a career-report service. When you submit a CV, job preferences, location preferences, or contact information, we use that information to generate and deliver a personalized report and to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Personal information we collect
We may collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, CV or resume file, resume text extracted from that file, job preferences, target location, work-style preferences, salary or role constraints, and any optional notes you choose to submit.
We also generate or collect service data tied to your submission, such as report drafts, recommended jobs, contact recommendations, delivery status, hosted report links, system logs, and limited technical information about how you use the site.
How we use your information
We use personal information to accept and process submissions, generate personalized career reports, deliver those reports by email or hosted link, troubleshoot issues, monitor service quality, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
We do not use your CV, preferences, or report data for unrelated advertising, and we do not sell personal information.
How we disclose information
We do not disclose your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate Career Telos, such as infrastructure hosts, file storage providers, email-delivery providers, analytics providers, and providers that help retrieve, process, or evaluate job and report data on our behalf.
We may also disclose information where required by law, regulation, court order, or other lawful process, or where disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect Career Telos, our users, or the public.
Third-party processing and cross-border transfers
Some of our service providers may process personal information outside your province or outside Canada. When that happens, the information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed.
Career Telos remains responsible for personal information transferred to third-party processors and seeks to use providers that offer contractual and technical protections appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Consent
By submitting your information to Career Telos, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure described in this policy for the purpose of operating the service and delivering your report.
You may withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you withdraw consent before a report is completed, we may not be able to finish or deliver the service.
Retention
Career Telos keeps personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including operating the service, delivering reports, handling support requests, improving quality, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations.
We do not currently promise a single fixed deletion timeline for all submissions. Instead, we review retention needs based on the type of information, the purpose for which it was collected, and operational or legal requirements. When information is no longer required, we may delete it, de-identify it, or anonymize it.
Safeguards
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards that are intended to be appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. These measures may include access controls, credential management, encryption in transit where supported, logging, and limiting access to people and systems that need the information to operate the service.
No system can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information may have been compromised, please contact us promptly.
Access, correction, and deletion requests
You may request access to the personal information Career Telos holds about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of information that is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, subject to legal and operational limitations.
Where PIPEDA applies, we aim to respond to access or correction requests within the time required by law. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the service, our practices, or legal requirements. We will update the effective date on this page when material changes are made.
